Kids can help too!

This generous group of students donate their service projects to different organizations each month and the furry guests at the Ozaukee Campus were lucky recipients. The animals here are so excited to try out their new, handmade fleece beds and rope toys. It is the perfect cozy addition to make each suite complete! THANK YOU students of Webster Transitional School in Cedarburg!!

Olivia and her friends held a lemonade stand at the 4th of July parade in Cedarburg to raise money for the animals at the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus. They raised $13.94! On behalf of the animals, thank you Olivia and your friends!

For the past two summers, Casey made a personalize tip container featuring her adopted dog, Percy, to raise money for the animals at the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus. She donated all her tips and 15% of her profits to the animals, totaling a generous amount of $50.50! That is a lot of lemonade! Thank you, Casey and keep up the great work!

Alexonia and Ari came into the Ozaukee Campus to donate $25.21 from their family's "Smudge Fund." After adopting their cat Reeses from our shelter they wanted to give back. Here the girls are pictured with their dog Teacup and their generous gift. We are so grateful for your kindness and we can clearly see Teacup and Reeses found a wonderful family!!

For her 11th birthday, Morgan asked for donations to the Ozaukee Campus in lieu of gifts for herself! She stopped by with a couple friends to drop off her donations and meet one of our adorable puppies! Thank you for being so generous and happy birthday Morgan!!

Girl Scout Troop #1231 from Mequon stopped by our Ozaukee Campus with tons of donations that they collected for the animals. The girls brought in treats, toys, tennis balls, food, cleaning supplies and so much more! Thank you to this generous group for their very generous gift!

The students at Dunwiddie Elementary School held a popcorn sale earlier this year to raise funds for the animals at the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus. After raising $200 from the fundraiser, some of the students visited us for a tour and presented our staff with a large cardboard check! On behalf of the animals, thank you for your kindness!

A big thank you goes out to the Cedarburg Girl Scout Troop 8316! After hosting a wish-list donation drive, the girls brought in homemade fleece pom toys for the cats and dogs and over $350! Great work Troop!

Kelly generously hosted a scavenger hunt at Walmart to gather wish list items in lieu of birthday presents! All of her birthday friends came to visit our shelter and brought all the wonderful donations they gathered from their scavenger hunt, including Timothy hay, toys, treats, food and bedding!

With birthdays come presents and thoughts of receiving. But for one little girl, the first thing on her mind was the animals at OHS. Katy, who recently celebrated her sixth birthday, chose to ask her friends and family for monetary donations for the shelter animals rather than presents for herself. Here she is pictured with puppy Dodger, holding the money she received for her birthday. A huge thank you goes out to Katy from all of the animals and staff at OHS!

For her birthday party, Ruby asked friends and family to donate items from our wish list to the animals at the Ozaukee Humane Society! She brought in her donations and received a special thank you from Fergie, one of our adoptable animals! For sharing your birthday with all the animals at OHS, thank you Ruby!

Clara had the perfect idea in mind for her birthday! Instead of gifts, she had her friends and family donate items to help the animals at the Ozaukee Humane Society. With a beaming smile, she brought in toys, treats, paper towels, peanut butter and office supplies that she collected. Thanks, Clara for making a difference!

Seven generous members of Girl Scout Troop #8021 in Cedarburg stopped by the Ozaukee Humane Society to make a special donation. They made dog cookies for the dogs at the shelter as a service project. On behalf of all the animals, thank you girls!

Tiffany handmade a doggie bank to place at a local vet clinic to collect donations for the animals at the Ozaukee Humane Society. Her beautifully wrapped box collected more than $33.00 in donations for the animals at OHS for Christmas! What a generous and unique way to give back, Tiffany!

Casey and her family adopted a dog named "Percy" from OHS about a year ago. With specially wrapped Christmas packages she donated, Casey attached a card to the pups:

"Dear Pups,

I'm sorry you don't have homes yet. I would adopt one of you, but dad said one dog is enough. So instead I saved my allowance and got you Christmas presents. I think you'll love them!
Merry Christmas Doggies!

Love,

Casey"

Recently, six generous members of Daisy Troop #8361 from Lincoln Elementary School in Port Washington visited OHS to donate homemade fleece blankets and treats for the dogs! On behalf of all the animals, thank you for your kindness!

As part of his Eagle’s project, Jonathan Lindeman took time on his Thanksgiving vacation to make 11 double sided fleece blankets for the cats. He donated various other items such as dog nail trimmers and two cat beds.

Thanks to Marlena R. for her recent generous donation to the animals at the Ozaukee Humane Society! Marlena made double-sided fleece blankets for a school project. The shelter cats can't wait to snuggle up in these soft blankets! Thanks, Marlena!

Here are some great ideas for kids to help the animals at
the Ozaukee Humane Society!

Hold a Help the Animals Drive
This is a great project to do on your own or with a group. Click here for our Wish List of much needed supplies. Design colorful posters and bins to attract the attention of kids in your school and people in your neighborhood to collect items for animals.

Fundraising

Helping the Ozaukee Humane Society raise money is a very important way to make sure that the animals receive all of the help they need. Check out our fundraising guide for some ideas on how to have fun while raising funds for a good cause!

•  Have a bake or lemonade sale;

•  Organize a yard sale;

•  Organize a "penny drive" at school;

•  Have a birthday party where kids bring gifts and/or money for the animals;

•  Have a movie night at your school or community center; and

•  Set up an information and fundraising table in your neighborhood or school

Spread the Word

Consider doing your next research paper, speech in class or article in your school newspaper about an animal-related topic. There are many animal welfare issues that deserve discussion such as spay/neuter, responsible animal care, humane treatment of wildlife, wildlife habitat and treating all animals with respect and kindness. There are lots of books, websites and magazines devoted to the subject. You can get information at your local library. Ask your local librarian to set up a display of animal related books and magazines so other kids can read about them as well.
