Take Time to Be Kind
Contests
and Guidelines
Join
the celebration of Be Kind to Animals Week 2010,
May 2-8, by participating in our annual Poster,
Poetry and Photography Contests! It's a wonderful
way for young people to spread the word about being
kind to animals and express themselves creatively!
This year's theme is "Take Time to Be Kind!"
PLEASE
NOTE FOR ALL CONTESTS:
-
Deadline
for all entries is Friday, April 2, 2010.
-
Mail
or drop off entries to the Ozaukee Humane Society,
2073 County Hwy. W, Grafton, WI 53024.
-
The
following information MUST be included on the
BACK of each entry: student's name, address,
zip code, home phone, grade level, school's
name with address and teacher's name.
-
Schools
and individuals will be notified by mail of
winning entries.
-
Each
participating classroom will receive a certificate
of appreciation for their efforts.
-
All
submissions will become the property of the
Ozaukee Humane Society. Artwork CANNOT be returned.
- All honorees will be invited to attend a Be Kind to Animals Celebration on Saturday, May 1, 2010.

PICASSOS WANTED
Poster Contest
Enter
the Ozaukee Humane Society's Poster Contest! Any
medium can be used: paints, markers, crayons; use
your imagination! Winners will be recognized
for kindergarten-6th grade. Entries will be judged
on the basis of grade level and how well the poster
illustrates the theme "Take Time to Be Kind." Winning
entries will be on exhibit at the Weyenberg Library in Mequon during the month of May.

A POET AND WE KNOW IT!
Poetry Contest
Attention
young writers! Help celebrate Be Kind to Animals
Week by using your creative ability to compose a
poem about spreading kindness and helping animals
using the theme, "Take Time to Be Kind."
Selected entries will be recognized and shared with
the community in an effort to spread the message
of kindness to animals. Authors of selected entries
will be recognized at a ceremony held in celebration
of Be Kind to Animals Week.
In addition to delivering or mailing poems to the
Ozaukee Humane Society, participants may e-mail
entries to lnowlin@wihumane.org.

A
PICTURE'S WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
Photography Contest
Do
you think every picture tells a story? Do you have
an eye for shape and color? Then try out our photography
contest! Using the theme, "Take Time to Be Kind,"
students can take pictures of important or interesting
animals in their lives and send them to the Ozaukee
Humane Society. Winning entries will be on exhibit at the Weyenberg Library in Mequon during the month of May.
Please
follow these guidelines when entering the photography
contest:
-
Please
print information with a permanent felt tip
pen on the back of you photo. Do not write in
ballpoint, as it will ruin the photograph.
-
The
photos must be at least 4X6 in size (digital
photos must be printed on photo paper) and should
focus on the animal(s).
-
No
Polaroid photographs, please.
-
Photos
should contain no exotic pets or non-native
animals (you may include domestic animals or
wildlife native to the area).
-
Pictures of animals and people will be accepted, but photos must be taken by the participating student.
-
All animals must be depicted in a humane and dignified manner.
