Ozaukee Humane Society Seeking Volunteers and Staff
Many positions available at new facility
Grafton, Wis. – The Ozaukee Humane Society is currently seeking applicants to work and volunteer in the new Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee Campus: Victoria Wellens Center in Saukville. The shelter will be opening in mid-February and many new positions are now available.
“Due to the increased size and capacity of the shelter,” explained Beth Maresh, director of programs, “we need more staff and volunteers to help with adoptions, animal care, and general operations. There are many exciting opportunities for people to become involved, and it’s going to be an amazing building not just for visitors, but for our staff and volunteers to work in.”
Rachelle LeJeune, the volunteer coordinator at the shelter, says that volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, including “retirees, college students, stay-at-home parents, parent-child teams, singles, and just your average animal-lover. Volunteering is incredibly rewarding and we depend on our volunteers to help save the lives of animals every day. It’s also great stress-relief to bring joy into the life of a homeless animal who is sometimes desperately in need of the love and care we provide.”
The organization is currently looking for a certified veterinary technician and several part and full-time animal care technician/adoption counselors. Interested individuals can fill out an employment application at ozaukeehumane.org.
Volunteer positions include adoption teammates and greeters with strong customer service skills; shelter crew volunteers; dog walkers and socializers; and cat, rabbit and small animal socializers. Volunteers must make at least a two-hour commitment per week. Volunteer applications can be found at ozaukeehumane.org.
