The Wisconsin Humane Society's Milwaukee and Ozaukee Campuses found homes for 1,000 animals in 29 adoption days, all thanks to the kindness of one man. For every animal who found a loving home, Stan Kass vowed to donate $100 back to the organization, up to $100,000. Between July 30th and September 1st, WHS found homes for 1,000 animals, even while remaining closed every Monday! We couldn’t be more grateful to the support from Mr. Kass, WISN 12, ClearChannel Outdoor and 96.5WKLH in getting the news out to the community. To our adopters, thank you for saving a life and opening your hearts and homes to a new companion!

In early July, WISN began a promotion benefitting the Wisconsin Humane Society. If they reached 25,000 followers by the end of the month, they would donate $2,500 to the shelter. Stan, a WHS supporter and avid WISN fan, saw the commercial and decided to help. His wife passed away last year and he found comfort in his four-legged friend, Reggie, whom he had adopted from us years ago. "He keeps my mind off the person I'm really missing," said Stan in an interview as he scratched Reggie behind the ears. Stan decided he wanted to give back to other homeless animals in need by matching WISN's donation of $2,500!
Stan's generosity inspired an anonymous donor to do the same, bringing the combined donation up to $7,500. Nine days early, WISN surpassed their goal and presented us with a generous check as they had promised. What we weren't expecting was a second check from Stan who said he was now matching the anonymous donor's contribution as well!
Just when we thought we had heard it all, Stan annouced that he wasn't done giving. Our jaws dropped as he offered to make a donation every time an animal was adopted from our shelter, up to $100,000! Still in awe of his immense generosity, we're blown away by Stan's commitment to the animal welfare community.
There's no doubt about it, Stan is true a lifesaver.
